Three Glassed In Separate Incidents – Sydney Metropolitan Area
A man is due to appear in Parramatta Bail Court today after a hotel licensee was allegedly stabbed twice in the back with a broken glass at Ambarvale.
It was one of three separate ‘glassings’ in the Sydney metropolitan area overnight.
- A 37-year-old man was attempting to stop a fight in the hotel at Ambarvale about 12.20am when he was allegedly knocked to the ground and stabbed with a broken glass.
- A 24-year-old man from Glen Alpine was charged with one count each of reckless wounding and affray. The man was refused bail and is due to appear in Parramatta Bail Court today. A 27-year-old woman from Pheasants Nest was also charged with affray over the same incident. The woman is due to appear in Campbelltown Local Court on 20 January 2010.
- Another glassing occurred earlier in the night when an argument broke out between security staff officials and three patrons at a hotel at Prospect about 9.30pm.
A fourth man suffered cuts to his eye and cheek when a glass was allegedly smashed into the left side of his face after he intervened. The 24-year-old man from Minchinbury was taken to Blacktown Hospital where he received stitches for what appeared to be flesh wounds.
A brawl erupted after the glassing and Police were forced to use OC spray to control the crowd. A number of people have been spoken to by Police and items seized for forensic examination. Police are still waiting to interview the injured man.
In another incident, an 18-year-old man from Balgowlah was treated at Manly Hospital for cuts to his face and mouth after being struck with a glass by an unknown man at a hotel at South Steyne about 12.15 am today.
Police from Manly Local Area Command established a crime scene and have spoken with a number of witnesses. The man has now been interviewed and investigations are continuing.
