Victor P Taffa
Housing Minister Bill Marmion today inspected one of the first of 1,000 New Social Housing Properties the State Government has committed to bringing on to the market before Christmas.
Visiting the four-bedroom home in Dalyellup today, Mr. Marmion said it was the first of 143 new homes for the Collie-Preston Electorate and the first to be delivered in Regional Western Australia under Stage 2 of the Nation Building Economic Stimulus Plan.
The Tenancy Management of the Property will be undertaken by Access Housing Australia Limited (AHA Ltd).
“Our Government has worked hard to manage the variety of building programs under the Stimulus program and this property has been delivered two months ahead of schedule.” Mr. Marmion said.
“Engaging community housing providers such as AHA Ltd is one way that the State Government is working towards reducing pressure on the public housing waiting list and providing alternative affordable housing options.”
A total of $550 Million will be spent in WA to construct 2,068 new homes across Stage One and Stage Two of the Nation Building Economic Stimulus Plan.
“Affordable housing for low income West Australians, especially those in Regional areas, is a key priority for this Government.” the Minister said.
“I am developing a State Affordable Housing Strategy which I hope to release soon, outlining how the Government will deliver more than 20,000 new affordable houses by 2020.
“It is important that we address the demand for affordable housing so all West Australian families can enjoy the benefits of such a Prosperous State.”
