The Western Australia State Government’s ‘Pilbara Cities’ initiative is set to deliver more housing options in Karratha with the announcement of a preferred proponent to develop Lot 403 at LandCorp’s Baynton West estate.

Minderoo Pty Ltd will develop up to 72 apartments of differing types and sizes on the 9,163 sqm site at the corner of Wagari Drive, Marniyarra Circuit and Tharnda Road.

Regional Development and Lands Minister Brendon Grylls said the project would give people living or looking to live in Karratha a wider choice of housing options to suit their own lifestyle.

“The proposal by Minderoo Pty Ltd includes stylish, secure apartments that allow for low maintenance living.” Mr. Grylls said.

“Each individual three-storey apartment building will incorporate balconies which will increase amenity and enhance lifestyle.”

The Minister said Baynton was an attractive new suburb that would offer parks; community and recreational facilities; and a school.

“LandCorp will release up to 450 lots in Baynton by the end of this year with a dwelling potential of approximately 500. This is on top of the 350 lots already sold in Baynton accommodating more than 1,100 new homes.” the Minister said.

Mr. Grylls said the State Government was delivering real change to Karratha through this project, which had been made possible by the Royalties for Regions ‘Pilbara Cities’ initiative.

“Our primary goal is to transform Pilbara towns like Karratha into cities that contain a range of affordable living options to suit a wide variety of households.” Mr. Grylls said.

LandCorp is now offering a wide array of housing choices throughout the Pilbara including lots, house and land packages, town houses, high rise and display villages.
