The Waroona Playgroup celebrated the completion of their outdoor patio and play area today, thanks to more than $11,000 in Royalties for Regions funding, administered by the State Government through the Peel Development Commission.
Regional Development Minister Brendon Grylls formally opened the toddler patio by unveiling a plaque celebrating the occasion.
Amid smiling parents and children with painted faces, Mr. Grylls said that while this project may be considered a minor one it is nevertheless important in terms of community building.
“The value of encouraging families to come together to meet other parents and caregivers and to share ideas and information, experiences and develop new friendships cannot be underestimated.” the Minister said.
“This is a great example of how Royalties for Regions is working in the community.”
The Minister congratulated the playgroup committee on their many hours of voluntary work and fundraising that brought them to this point and thanked them for the opportunity to officiate at such an occasion.
While in Waroona, Mr. Grylls also met with shire representatives and visited the Quambie Park Aged Care facility where Royalties for Regions funding contributed to landscaping and a new security system.
