Appeal For Witnesses After Pedestrian Hit By Car – Palmers Island

Police are appealing for witnesses after a pedestrian was seriously injured when he was hit by a car on Palmers Island on the states north coast yesterday.

About 8:15pm (Sunday 22 November) a Mazda 121 was travelling east on Yamba Road, Palmers Island when it collided with a pedestrian who was also walking east along the road.

As a result of the crash the 17-year-old male pedestrian from Yamba was taken to Maclean Hospital before being transferred to Gold Coast Hospital for treatment to multiple fractures. He remains in a serious condition.

The driver of the car, a 40-year-old Yamba man was taken by police to Maclean Hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.

Officers from Ballina Crash Investigation Unit attended and conducted examinations of the scene while the vehicle was also seized for mechanical examination.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are continuing and Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
