Victor P Taffa

Northern Territory Government has awarded 215 contracts since July 1 this year, with over 85 % of these going to Territory enterprises.

“Territory Government’s absolute priority is to create jobs for Territorians, and this is why we are delivering continuous high levels of investment in Government infrastructure projects and repairs and maintenance.” Minister for Infrastructure Planning and Logistics Eva Lawler said.

“We launched the 10-year Infrastructure Plan last year because it is imperative to have well planned and strategically timed infrastructure projects that contribute to creating jobs, improving services and attracting people to the Territory.”

97 contracts for construction projects have been awarded this financial year, with 100% of these awarded to Territory Enterprises.

Northern Territory Government today released its annual update of the Territory’s 10 Year Infrastructure Plan 2018–2027.

Yearly review provides transparency in planning and prioritises Government and Private projects for the Territory’s future growth.

First Plan was released last year by Government along with the Economic Development Strategy, and sets out the Territory’s long-term infrastructure agenda.

Publication of project planning, investment opportunities and sectors linked to future projects helps to guide and inform investment decisions, as well as certainty in business planning and workforce development.

Northern Territory Government will deliver another significant infrastructure investment in 2018-19 of $1.45 Billion.

10 Year Infrastructure Plan includes private and public sector projects including:

  • $12 Million Alice Springs Adventure Cycling Tracks
  • $15 Million on recreational fishing
  • Aged Care Facility in Nhulunbuy
  • Arnhem Space Centre
  • Darwin High School STEAM Centre
  • Darwin Westin Luxury Hotel
  • Mining Facilities in Tennant Creek
  • Tennant Creek Integrated Preschool
  • Truck Central
  • Warren Park Rugby Stadium
  • Zuccoli Primary School

Over the last 9 months, the Government has consulted with industry, business and local government to review the plan and will continue to undertake annual reviews to reflect ongoing development in the Territory.
