Northern Territory Minister for Primary Industry and Fisheries Willem Westra van Holthe

Victor P Taffa

Minister for Primary Industry and Fisheries, Willem Westra van Holthe, has today congratulated the Northern Territory Cattlemen’s Association (NTCA) on achieving their 30th anniversary.

“I’d like to congratulate the NTCA for reaching this milestone and I look forward to working with them in to the future.” Mr. Willem Westra van Holthe said.

“The NTCA is an iconic organisation that continues to work hard to represent their industry.”

“However, the NTCA is much more than an industry representative group, they represent a way of life – when times are tough they band together.”

“I must also note this will be the last conference with Luke Bowen at the helm. Luke will be leaving the NTCA and I wish him every success in the future. Luke’s work during the live export ban was pivotal to having the ban lifted. I thank Luke not only for his service to the NTCA but his wider service to the Northern Territory.”

The Department of Primary Industry and Fisheries, and the Department of Land Resource Management are hosting a stall at the Conference today.

“My departments are sponsoring a booth at the conference to provide information about the recently updated non-pastoral use provisions which will support pastoralists in their efforts to diversify their operations.” Mr. Westra van Holthe said.

“Non-pastoral use permits of up to 30 years are now available with an option to extend and will be registered against the title of the lease.”

“This approach will open up new business and investment opportunities for non-pastoral industries such as tourism, forestry and horticulture.”
