Norseman Credit Card Fraud
Norseman Police on 7 November 2009 charged a 25 year old man from Norseman with using customers’ credit card details to purchase mobile phones and similar items.
Police commenced an investigation into transactions that occurred between July and October 2009 at a Caltex Service Station in Norseman where police will allege a number of customers’ had their credit cards illegally used after they purchased fuel.
The victims only became aware of the fraud when the transactions showed up in their credit card statements.
The man has been charged with:
• 14 counts of Gain Benefit by Fraud
Police inquiries have revealed that the victims identified to date have been interstate travellers passing through Norseman and it is possible that there are others effected who are not yet aware of the theft.
Police are encouraging people who have passed through Norseman and used their credit card at the Norseman Caltex Service Station to check their credit card statements for any unauthorised transactions and where any anomalies are identified, they should contact Norseman Police on 08 9039 1000.
The 25 year old man is scheduled to appear in Norseman Magistrates’ Court on 25 November 2009.
