Nominations have opened for the 2012 Community Services Excellence Awards, celebrating the outstanding work by community service organisations and individuals across Western Australia.

Community Services Minister Robyn McSweeney launched the biennial awards, designed to recognise those who work tirelessly to assist those in need, at today’s Western Australian Council of Social Service (WACOSS) New Year Sector Breakfast.

Mrs. McSweeney also presented a Lotterywest grant cheque of $241,415 to WACOSS to organise a conference from May 8-10 which will see the winners and finalists of the Community Service Excellence Awards honoured.

The Minister urged anyone with a stake in the community services sector to take the time to nominate an organisation or individual deserving recognition.

“These awards have been designed to recognise the individuals and agencies making a positive difference to communities through innovative and creative ways of working.” Mrs. McSweeney said.

“Most importantly, the awards are also an opportunity to showcase the fantastic work of community service organisations and individuals from across WA.”
