Victor P Taffa

Planning Minister John Day today announced changes to the Armadale Redevelopment Authority (ARA) board of management, with Charles Johnson appointed as Chairperson and John Ruprecht as Deputy Chairperson.

Mr. Day said Mr. Johnson and Mr. Ruprecht, who joined the board in March this year, had a wealth of experience in the fields of Planning and Water Policy.

“Charles Johnson is the principal of a Planning Consultancy, Planning Context, and formerly the executive director of Strategic Policy and Research at the Department of Planning.” the Minister said.

“With nearly 30 years experience in urban geography and town planning at both local and State Government levels, he is well versed in the challenges associated with major planning projects.”

“John Ruprecht brings over 25 years of Water Resource Management skills to the position.”

“He is currently the executive director of Agricultural Resources Risk Management at the Department of Agriculture and Food.” Mr. Day said.

“In a short time with the ARA, both men have already brought considerable expertise and knowledge to the ARA’s major urban development initiative, the Wungong Urban Water Project.”

“I congratulate Charles and John on their appointments, which are for a one-year term, expiring on June 30, 2011.”

The appointments follow the resignation of the Previous Chair, Peter Jackson. The Minister thanked Mr. Jackson for his contribution to the management and leadership of the ARA during his time as chairman.

Mr. Day also acknowledged the contribution of Dr. Tony Buti, who has resigned after serving as a board member since the ARA was established in 2002.
