Students in the Yarra Ranges are one step closer to having the first-rate education facilities they deserve with Stage 1 now complete, thanks to the Andrews Government.
Minister for Education James Merlino today visited Monbulk College to officially open the school’s $3 Million administration and resource building, featuring:
- 4 general purpose classrooms,
- Brand-new library,
- Open plan office spaces including staff lounge.
“This project is extremely important to the Monbulk community and will give students and staff the facilities they need to thrive.” Minister for Education James Merlino said.
“It’s wonderful to see the completion of the first stage of this building work, which is a significant step towards delivering the kind of first-rate education facilities the Monbulk College school community deserves.”
New 2-storey administration and resource building includes an entry foyer and reception counter, administration offices, sick bay, toilets and plant area on the lower ground floor.
First floor features the new library and toilets, as well as support, learning, and breakout spaces for students.
This week’s Victorian Budget 2019-20 also include additional funding towards planning and early work ahead of the final major stage of the school.
Andrews Government is set to complete Stage 2 of the building works at Monbulk College in September this year.
Investment in Stage 2 of the works, worth close to $7.6 Million, includes the demolition of an existing building, refurbishment of the existing administration building, construction of new classrooms and specialist spaces for information and communication technology.
Chrisp Architects and Lloyd Group were appointed to design and build the facilities which provide an appealing and relaxed learning environment with spaces that promote independent learning as well as team working and online learning.
