Small Business Ministerial Council – Call For Expressions Of Interest

Victor P Taffa

The Minister for Innovation, Services and Small Business Louise Asher today called for expressions of interest from small business owners to join the Victorian Government’s new Small Business Ministerial Council.

“Victoria’s 495,000 small businesses are vital to the success of our economy. They account for 96 % of all businesses in Victoria and nearly half of all private sector employment.” Ms. Asher said.

“The Coalition Government is committed to encouraging small business and individual initiative, and creating an environment that rewards those who work hard, save, invest and create employment.”

“The Small Business Ministerial Council provides an important channel for the Government to consult and interact directly with small business owners and operators.”

“The Council will provide advice on policy initiatives and priorities that can support small businesses in Victoria.” Ms. Asher said.

Individuals are sought from a variety of industry sectors, in both Metropolitan and Regional Victoria.

The Council will operate for a two year term, from 2011 until 2013.

Expressions of interest should be sent to the Executive Director of Small Business Victoria, Department of Business and Innovation, GPO Box 4509, Melbourne, VIC 3001, marked Confidential. Nominations must be received by March 25, 2011.
