Member for Blain, Terry Mills, has been re-elected leader of the Country Liberals and Member for Araluen Robyn Lambley his deputy.
The party’s wing met this afternoon to finalise leadership positions following Saturday night’s election.
“I am honoured to have been re-elected party leader and delighted to have Robyn as my deputy and Deputy Chief Minister.” Mr. Mills said.
“Saturday’s election sent out a very clear signal that residents living south of the Berrimah Line want a voice in the Territory Parliament.”
“Nine of the Country Liberals 16 members live in electorates south of Darwin and Robyn is well placed to represent their interests.”
“As well as running a successful business in Alice Springs, Robyn is a hard-working local member who has made a significant impact since being elected to public office.”
“As well as being a strong child protection advocate, Robyn is also attuned to the concerns of residents in Central Australia and will work closely with my colleagues in rural and remote parts of the Territory.”
Ms. Lambley said she is honoured to have been elected Deputy Chief Minister and will work hard to represent all Territorians.
“I will be the conscience of the party to make sure all centres outside Darwin get an equitable share of the Territory’s wealth.” Ms. Lambley said.
“The election of the Country Liberals to Government on Saturday represents a new era in Territory politics and a turning point for rural and remote residents.”
Member for Port Darwin, John Elferink, has been elected Manager of Government Business.
