Police Arrest Man Allegedly Caught Taking Inappropriate Photos Of Child – Manly

Police have charged a man after he was allegedly discovered taking inappropriate photographs of a child at Manly yesterday.

About 2:30 pm, a 39-year-old man and his 5-year-old son were at Queenscliff Beach, Manly when it is alleged another man was seen taking photographs of the child who was naked at the time.

The father informed nearby lifeguards and Police were contacted.

During a patrol of the area Police allegedly located a 37-year-old man in the public toilets at Keirle Park.

Police will allege the man was found in possession of a digital camera which contained 150 photographs including photographs of the child as well as sexually explicit photographs of other boys.

The camera was seized and the 37-year-old man from Medlow Bath arrested and taken to Manly Police Station.

He was charged with:

  • Film person’s private parts without consent,
  • Produce/disseminate or possess child pornography,
  • Behave in offensive manner in public place,
  • Larceny

The man was granted conditional bail and will appear at Manly Local Court on Thursday 28 January.

Investigations into the matter are continuing and Police expect to lay further charges against the man.
