Tasmania Shadow Minister for Corrections Vanessa Goodwin

McKim Statement Raises More Questions Than It Answers

Today’s Ministerial Statement from Nick McKim raises more questions than it answers.

Tasmanians are no closer to understanding why former Prison Director Barry Greenberry left and why it was necessary to pay him hundreds of thousands of dollars in compensation, Shadow Minister for Corrections Vanessa Goodwin said.

“Minister McKim’s story simply doesn’t stack up. What we need is more openness and transparency. If everything is going so well, as Mr. McKim claims, why is he afraid establishing an independent prisons inspectorate?”

“Unfortunately, Nick McKim is so distracted by his divisive social agenda that he can’t do what he’s paid to do, and look after the Corrections portfolio properly.” Ms. Goodwin said.
