Weatherill Labor’s Toxic Car Park Tax: New Report Warns Against Discouraging Cars In CBD

Victor P Taffa

A report commissioned by the Adelaide City Council into city vibrancy has warned against focussing on discouraging cars from coming into the city.

The Adelaide Fine Grain report even suggests that free night car parking should be used to encourage more people to come into the city.

Despite this, and community outrage and criticism from leading industry experts, Premier Weatherill wants to introduce a toxic car park tax!

“It’s incredible that at the same time Premier Weatherill wants to encourage city vibrancy, he’s also introducing a toxic car park tax which will have the exact opposite effect.” State Liberal Leader Steven Marshall said.

“South Australia is already the highest taxed state in the nation and South Australian families are facing cost of living pressures, which would only increase with the introduction of Mr. Weatherill’s toxic tax.”

“The State Liberals understand the pressures South Australian families and businesses are facing, which is why I’ve pledged to repeal Premier Weatherill’s toxic tax if elected to government in 2014.”

“The last thing businesses and households need is another tax.” Mr. Marshall said.

“It is becoming clearer and clearer every day that Premier Weatherill’s $750 p.a. per car park tax is nothing more than a desperate cash grab by a broke Labor Government which has a handbrake on the economy.”

“Our State has a debt bill approaching $14 Billion and a $1.2 Billion deficit this year thanks to Labor’s reckless spending and financial mismanagement.”

“South Australians deserve a Government with better priorities to get our state back on track not amateur hour under the Weatherill Labor Government.” Mr. Marshall said.
