Police Charge Man With Manslaughter Of Elderly Woman – Greenwich
Police have arrested and charged a man with the manslaughter of 74-year-old Janet May Jackson last month at Greenwich on Sydney’s North Shore.
On Christmas Day, 2009 Ms. Jackson was found dead in her home where she lived alone.
An initial medical examination indicated both her legs had been severely broken possibly in a fall.
It also revealed she had died three days earlier.
Detectives from the North Shore Local Area Command and officers from the State Crime Command Homicide Squad formed Strike Force Leafleigh to investigate the death.
At 7.30 am today following a number of inquiries detectives arrested a 41-year-old man at a home in Pitt Street, Hunters Hill.
He was taken to the Chatswood Police Station and charged with manslaughter.
Detectives will allege the man had visited the home for a number of hours and failed to render medical assistance to the injured woman or alert authorities.
The man was refused bail and ordered to appear later today in the Parramatta Local Court.
