Police Charge Man Over Alleged Credit Fraud – Guildford West
Police have arrested and charged a man over an alleged credit fraud scam operating in Sydney’s West.
Detectives from the Holroyd Local Area Command established an investigation in 2007 after inquiries by a leading financial institution into allegedly fraudulent applications for credit.
Police allege a man was completing credit card application forms with fraudulent and misleading documentation on behalf of third parties without the knowledge of financial institutions.
About 3.30 pm yesterday (Wednesday 20 January), officers executed a search warrant at a home in Bowden Street, Guildford West.
Police arrested a 57-year-old unemployed financier at the home.
He was taken to Merrylands Police Station where he was charged with six counts of obtain money by false or misleading statements and one count of obtain benefit by deception.
The man was granted conditional bail and ordered to appear before Fairfield Local Court on Wednesday 17 February 2010.
