KEY POINTS

Livestock and meat production monthly trend movements for December 2014:

  • Cattle slaughter figures reached their highest level on record in December 2014, reflecting continued turn off of stock due to ongoing drought conditions
  • Sheep slaughter figures have remained steady
  • December lamb slaughter figures have eased slightly since reaching record highs in September 2014
  • Pig slaughter and production figures have continued their gradual increase since 2009
