Sirolli Fails To Deliver – O’Byrne Must Justify Expense

Victor P Taffa

Minister David O’Byrne must explain why one year and $950,000 of tax payer funds later the Sirolli Institute has created no new businesses and only three temporary jobs, according to Shadow Minister for Innovation Science and Technology Michael Ferguson.

“Worse still it appears around one third of that funding, more than $300,000, has gone to Mr. Sirolli himself.” Mr. Ferguson said.

“This was a project announced with much fanfare by the Minister for Economic Development, with funding provided against his department’s advice and with no tender process.”

“Mr. O’Byrne must explain why he was so sloppy in awarding this funding, why it has failed to generate promised economic growth, and whether tax payers will ever see any return on their investment?” Mr. Ferguson asked.
