An elected Liberal/Nationals Coalition Government will provide a $100,000 grant to help support the work of Mums Supporting Families in Need in the community.

Mums Supporting Families in Need is a volunteer run organisation, providing quality material aid to struggling Victorian families in partnership with community support and welfare organisations.

Under Premier Daniel Andrews and Labor, families are struggling with the cost of living more than ever before.

“Mums Supporting Families in Need is a vital community service who provides much needed support for families in crisis.” Opposition Leader Matthew Guy said.

“Daniel Andrews and Labor have lost control of cost of living, a Liberal Nationals Government will help Victorians get back in control of their household budgets.”

Recent reports by the Essential Services Commission shows that some Victorians may be paying as much as $1,000 more this year for their electricity or gas.

Separately, St. Vincent de Paul’s released a report saying that average annual household electricity costs are around $2,300 a year, an increase of approximately $300 from the previous year with major retailers.

After a personal encounter with a mother in crisis, Mums Supporting Families in Need began over 5 years ago.

Initially sorting from volunteers’ lounge rooms and working with a select group of local support services, Mums Supporting Families in Need now services over 70 agencies from their Seaford warehouse.

“Staff and volunteers are doing ground breaking work not only in Seaford but around Victoria, assisting families with the essential equipment needed for a happy home environment.” Liberal Candidate for Carrum Donna Bauer said.

“All families deserve to have their basic daily needs met and if elected as Member for Carrum, I will keep working hard and keep delivering for my local community.”

Liberal Nationals understand what a vital service Mums Supporting Families in Need provides at a time when families’ budgets are stretched thin.

A Liberal/Nationals Coalition Government will ease the cost of living squeeze through better economic management and a series of programs to put more money in the pockets of Victorians.
