Regional Development Minister Brendon Grylls officially opened the new $1.107 Million Leonora Sporting Complex in the Shire of Leonora.

Leonora residents now have access to better sporting facilities thanks to a $609,235 investment from the State Government’s Royalties for Regions’ Country Local Government Fund.

Mr. Grylls said funding had allowed the Shire of Leonora to construct a club type facility, catering for all sporting and community organisations within Leonora.

“The new sporting complex includes kitchen facilities, enabling catering at school carnivals, as well as meeting rooms for local sporting clubs to utilise during events and competitions.” Mr. Grylls said.

Additionally, the new complex will also be used for meetings, which is vital for community planning and engagement.

The Minister said the ongoing improvement and management of infrastructure assets in Leonora would help to promote physical activity and foster a greater sense of community.

“These Royalties for Regions investment will improve recreational facilities for residents in the Shire of Leonora which will increase community activities.” Mr. Grylls said.

Mr. Grylls said that the Leonora Sporting Complex was already in high demand.

“The Country Local Government Fund is another example of Royalties for Regions providing extra funds for developing new facilities for the community.” Mr. Grylls said.
