Police Investigate Car-Jacking – Leichhardt

Detectives in Sydney’s Inner-West are conducting inquiries into a car-jacking incident at Leichhardt.

About 11.40 am yesterday (Thursday 4 February), a 45-year-old tradesman was approached by an unknown man as he sat in the driver’s seat of his white 1998-model Holden Rodeo utility – with NSW registration BA55HV – outside a residence in Marion Street.

The offender held an unknown implement to the victim’s neck and ordered him out of the Ute before driving off in it in a Westerly direction.

Police from Leichhardt Local Area Command were alerted to the incident and attended the scene.

Investigating officers conducted a canvass of the surrounding area. The offender has only been described as having a dark complexion.

It is also believed a second person might have entered the vehicle, which was laden with the tradesman’s tools, before it was driven away.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information that might assist detectives with their inquiries is urged to contact Glebe Police Station via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
