Attorney General John Quigley has today announced the appointment of Larissa Strk as an acting judge of the Supreme Court of Western Australia.

“Ms. Strk is a highly experienced legal practitioner who is suitable and qualified to be appointed as an acting judge of the Supreme Court.” Attorney General John Quigley said.

“On behalf of the McGowan Government, I congratulate Ms. Strk on her appointment and wish her well in her new role.”

She was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor in 1998, after completion of articles of clerkship at Dwyer Durack.

In 2012, Ms. Strk was appointed as a partner of the international law firm, King & Wood Mallesons.

In that capacity, Ms. Strk practised in the Dispute Resolution Group and was widely acknowledged as an experienced practitioner in commercial litigation, particularly insolvency disputes.

She performed leadership roles within King & Wood Mallesons in their Equality and Diversity, and Mentoring Programs.

In addition, she played a significant role in the community programs conducted by King & Wood Mallesons to advocate for Parkerville Children and Youth Care, and the Mallesons Asylum Seeker Project team.

Ms. Strk’s recent work as Principal Registrar of the Court has demonstrated her suitability for the acting appointment.

She has also performed the role of Acting Master on a number of occasions since August 2016, and has published over 30 reasoned judgments in that capacity.

Ms. Strk obtained a Bachelor of Laws with Honours from The University of Western Australia in 1997 and was a legal practitioner from 1998 until 2016.

Ms. Strk was appointed Principal Registrar of the Supreme Court on August 1, 2016.
