Western Australia Minister for Lands Brendon Grylls

State Government Releases First House And Land Packages At Lakeside Park

Kununurra residents will have more opportunity to own their own home at Lakeside Park residential estate with 18 house and land packages to be released tomorrow.

Western Australia Minister for Lands Brendon Grylls said house and land packages were a central part of the State Government’s long term strategy to deliver more affordable dwellings in the Kimberley.

“The packages help deliver shorter building times and housing diversity and provide a fixed building cost for local residents and business owners wanting to purchase in the town.” Mr. Grylls said.

“They provide a win-win situation for both purchasers and builders and have proved popular in other North-West towns, particularly among first home buyers.” Mr. Grylls said.

“Buying a block and building a home involves a lot of time and money for buyers, however these all-inclusive options allow the builder to guide purchasers through this process.”

“Once again, we will be giving preference to local owner-occupiers and business owners.”

The successful builders were selected through an expression of interest (EOI) late last year and include a number of local, Western Australian and interstate companies, with each builder having a range of designs.

The Minister said additional opportunities would become available in Kununurra later this year, with three house and land package lots set for release by Northern Aspect Construction.

The company was one of last year’s REAL (Regional Environmental Affordable Living) Challenge winners, an initiative which encouraged builders and architects to collaborate and design new homes for specific climate zones within an affordable price range. A display home showcasing their winning design opens soon.
