Police Arrest Man Following Stabbing – Katoomba
A man has been arrested and will face court charged with the alleged stabbing of another man in Katoomba yesterday.
During the evening of Friday 22 January, three men had been drinking at a hotel in Park Street, Katoomba when they left the hotel by taxi and attended a house in Megalong Street where they allegedly consumed more alcohol.
It is alleged about 9:40 am (Saturday 23 January) two of the men, aged 22 and 61, became involved in an argument in the kitchen of the home.
During the argument it is alleged the younger man grabbed a knife and stabbed the 61-year-old a number of times to his throat and body.
Another occupant of the home heard the man calling out for help and ran into the street where he flagged down a passing taxi who contacted emergency services.
Police and NSW Ambulance Paramedics attended the premises and the injured man was taken to Westmead Hospital where he is listed as being in a serious but stable condition.
A crime scene was established at the home and the 22-year-old man was later arrested by detectives at his home in William Street, Katoomba.
The man was taken to Katoomba Police Station and charged with recklessly cause grievous bodily harm and refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today.
