New Appointment To The Supreme Court

Attorney-General Robert Clark today announced the appointment of Kate McMillan SC as a judge of the Supreme Court, following Justice Robert Osborn’s appointment to the Court of Appeal.
Mr. Clark said Ms. McMillan was a highly-regarded barrister who would bring a wealth of experience to the bench.
Ms. McMillan was admitted to practice in 1976 and signed the Bar Roll in 1981.
“With over 35 years of legal experience, Ms. McMillan has a broad range of legal specialisations including commercial law, equity and trusts, property law, professional negligence, torts, trade practices and ethics and disciplinary matters.” Mr. Clark said.
“Ms. McMillan is currently a Victorian Bar representative on the Council of Legal Education, and a Deputy member of the Board of Examiners.”
Ms. McMillan has a Bachelor of Law from the University of Melbourne.
She was formerly the Chair of the Victorian Bar Council and held the role of Chair of the Victorian Bar Ethics Committee for four years.
“I am confident Ms. McMillan will prove to be a valuable addition to the Supreme Court, and I am very pleased to announce her appointment today.” Mr. Clark said.
