Teen Charged After Police Pursuit – Goulburn
Police from Goulburn Local Area Command have arrested and charged a juvenile after a Police pursuit overnight.
Shortly before 11pm yesterday Highway Patrol officers were patrolling northbound on the Hume Highway near Berrima.
After receiving information from the public about the manner in which a Toyota Camry was being driven the officers began to follow the vehicle.
Concerned about the speed and manner in which the vehicle was allegedly being driven Police have activated their warning devices and attempted to stop the Camry.
The vehicle initially slowed but then accelerated away from the officers who continued to pursue it.
Due to the manner in which it was being driven Police terminated the pursuit as they were concerned for the welfare of other drivers and the vehicle was eventually detected broken down near Pheasants Nest.
The lone male occupant of the vehicle was arrested without further incident.
The 15-year-old Canberra youth was taken to Goulburn Police Station and later charged with several offences.
The charges include breach of bail, possess implements to enter/drive conveyance, being never licensed, drive vehicle recklessly and receive property stolen outside NSW.
The youth was refused bail and will appear the Goulburn Children’s Court later today.
