A new product trial is helping Aurora Pay As You Go (PAYG) customers better understand and manage their energy use through an easy-to-use digital portal.

Aurora Pay As You Go Plus (PAYG+) is currently being trialled by more than 70 customers, before being rolled out to Aurora Pay As You Go customers across the state.

Aurora PAYG+ will replace Aurora PAYG, with the old system being phased out as the technology is reaching the end of its useable life.

Hodgman Government has a Tasmania First Energy Policy, to provide Tasmanians with low cost, reliable and clean electricity to Tasmanians, Minister for Energy Guy Barnett said.

“We are continuing to deliver on our commitment to ensure Tasmania has the lowest regulated electricity prices by capping price increases for residents and small businesses.” Minister Barnett said.

Independent Office of The Tasmanian Economic Regulator’s (OTTER) electricity price comparison has confirmed Tasmanian residential and small business customers experience the lowest standing offer electricity costs compared to any other state.

“We will continue to deliver on this commitment, which will ease cost of living pressures on Tasmanians.”

Aurora PAYG+ will be rolled out across Tasmania over the next 12 months, with the first Aurora PAYG customers expected to switch to Aurora PAYG+ in early 2019.

Hodgman Government Targets For Energy Include:

  • Make Tasmania energy self-sufficient with an additional 1,000-gigawatt hours of on-island renewable generation by the end of 2022.
  • Ensure Tasmania has the lowest regulated electricity prices in the country throughout the next 4-year term of Government.
