P-Plate Driver 100km Over Limit – Helensburgh

A 19-year-old man is due to appear in court next month after being detected travelling 100 km above the speed limit at Helensburgh.

Police were conducting speed enforcement duties on the F6 about 12.40 pm on Friday when they saw a vehicle travelling North allegedly at excessive speed.

A radar check revealed the car was travelling at 191kmh in a 100 km zone however P1 drivers are restricted to 90 km/h.

They stopped the 2004-model silver Mercedes C200 Kompressor containing the driver and four passengers.

The driver had his licence suspended on the spot and was issued with a Field Court Attendance Notice for speed dangerous, exceed speed by more than 45 km/h, and not display P-Plates.

The Tomakin driver is due to appear in Wollongong Local Court on 16 February.
