Tarkine: We Already Have Balance

The ongoing stoush about mineral exploration in the Tarkine shows the Greens’ idea of balance means “give us everything”, Deputy Opposition Leader Jeremy Rockliff said.

“Already half of Tasmania is locked up in permanent reserves and still the Greens are demanding more areas.” Mr. Rockliff said.

“The Greens have already shut down the forest industry, they’re eyeing off aquaculture and mining is firmly in their sights. The Greens will not be happy until all our major industries are shut down and the remaining half of the state is locked up forever.”

“Enough is enough, Tasmania doesn’t need more lock ups. Tasmania needs a strong majority Liberal government that will work to grow these pillar industries, not shut them down as the Green-Labor Government is doing.” Mr. Rockliff said.
