Minister for Racing Denis Napthine today welcomed sports management professional and former chief executive of Greyhound Racing Victoria (GRV), Adam Wallish, as a new appointment to the GRV Board.

Mr. Wallish will be a valuable addition bringing 22 years of extensive experience in sports management to the GRV Board.

“I am pleased to announce that such a highly-skilled and experienced professional has chosen to accept a prime position in this vibrant industry.” Dr. Napthine said.

“During his previous tenure at Greyhound Racing Victoria, Mr. Wallish formed strong bonds with industry bodies in New South Wales and Queensland, and introduced twilight racing and the highly successful Greyhound Adoption Program.”

“He has represented Australian racing through his senior appointment at Sky Channel, as well as holding chief executive roles at Hockey Australia, Little Athletics Australia, Greyhound Racing New South Wales and of course, Greyhound Racing Victoria.”

“I have no doubt the Greyhound Racing Victoria Board will benefit immensely from Mr. Wallish’s years of experience, including his involvement in international sports marketing.” Dr. Napthine said.

Dr. Napthine said the Victorian Coalition Government was excited about the future of greyhound racing in Victoria and had already committed to a $4 Million infrastructure and track redevelopment project in Bendigo.

“With the opening of the new $8.2 Million super centre at Beckley Park in Geelong, the greyhound racing industry in Victoria continues grow in leaps and bounds.” Dr. Napthine said.

Greyhound racing makes a significant contribution to Victoria’s $2 Billion racing industry. Through its 12 regional clubs and two metropolitan clubs greyhound racing distributes more than $25 Million in prize money annually.

Greyhound Racing Victoria is the industry controlling body with responsibility for the regulation, management and promotion of greyhound racing in Victoria.

Dr. Napthine also acknowledged out-going board member Sandra McKay for her valuable contribution to the GRV Board.

“I would like to sincerely thank Sandra for her service to the greyhound racing industry over the years and wish her the very best for the future.” Dr. Napthine said.
