  • Multiple generations celebrate Bendigo Bank Seniors Week Festival at Perth Zoo

Seniors and Volunteering Minister Robyn McSweeney, and more than 380 grandparents and their grandchildren, this morning celebrated the end of the 2012 Bendigo Bank Seniors Week Festival at Perth Zoo.

Western Australian grandparents took advantage of free entry and a morning tea at The Senior Newspaper Grandparents Day at Perth Zoo, which is part of the annual festival, which took place from November 11-18.

Mrs. McSweeney said the event was a great opportunity for families to come together and enjoy some quality family time.

“The zoo is one of Perth’s premier attractions and one that children especially love.” Mrs. McSweeney said.

“It is wonderful to see generations of families enjoying the Bendigo Bank Seniors Week Festival.”

Today marks the end of the festival, which the Minister said had been a great success with more than 100 free and discounted activities on offer for seniors across WA.

Seniors took part in events ranging from classical concerts to art workshops, to the annual Have a Go Day.  The week began last Sunday with the announcement of the 2012 WA Seniors Awards winners at a gala ceremony.

The Minister will tonight officially close the 2012 Bendigo Bank Seniors Week Festival while attending a special church service at St. George’s Cathedral.
