Premier Launches FRINGE WORLD With A $2 Million State Govt Contribution

Premier Mark McGowan has officially launched FRINGE WORLD which is Western Australia’s biggest festival of its kind and third largest fringe festival in the world.

“FRINGE WORLD has become a highlight of the summer calendar for hundreds of thousands of Western Australians.” Premier Mark McGowan said.

“It has helped put thousands of talented Western Australia artists on the international map as it showcases everything from comedy and cabaret, to circus, theatre and visual arts.”

2018 festival runs from January 26-February 25 and is expected to attract hundreds of thousands of people across the 4-week period.

Month-long event features more than 750 low-cost and free performances and cultural experiences happening in almost 130 venues across Western Australia.

With the additional $1.87 Million of State Government funding, through Lotterywest, the State Government’s support of FRINGE WORLD has been in excess of $6 Million since 2011.

Additional grant support will see the delivery of FRINGE WORLD continue in 2019, with a further $350,000 contributed by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.
