Forestry Budget Should Be Certain

Tasmania Shadow Minister for Forestry Peter Gutwein

Labor, Greens Still All Over The Shop On Forestry Tasmania Money

Labor and the Greens are still confused and all over the shop on the money for Forestry Tasmania in the budget, Shadow Minister for Forestry Peter Gutwein said.

“This reinforces our position that the money should be excised from the budget, and a separate appropriation brought to the Parliament when the Premier can detail exactly what the money is for.”

“In the Examiner today, the Greens’ Tim Morris said that there would “almost certainly” be changes made to Forestry Tasmania.” Mr. Gutwein said.

“In contrast, Bryan Green claimed that the money isn’t to shut Forestry Tasmania down. They can’t both be right.”

“If Minister Green’s version of events is correct, it means the Greens are going to support $35 Million going to support Forestry Tasmania.”

“We won’t support giving the Government a $35 Million blank cheque to do what they like with Forestry Tasmania and if the Greens don’t vote with us against this funding, they will lose what little credibility they have left.” Mr. Gutwein said.
