Police Appeal For Information After Death Of 81 Yr Pedestrian – Leppington
Police are appealing for information after the death of an elderly man who was hit by a prime mover in Sydney’s South-West.
About 10.15 am yesterday, the prime mover and trailer was travelling West along the Camden Valley Way at Leppington.
When the prime mover was approximately 150 m East of the Bringelly Road intersection, the driver has told Police he saw an elderly man standing on the side of the road.
The driver has told Police that soon after the man stepped from the kerb, forcing him to take evasive action to try and avoid hitting the 81-year-old man.
However, the heavy vehicle was unable to stop and it was involved in a collision with the pedestrian.
In spite of the efforts of emergency services personnel the 81-year-old man died at the scene.
Liverpool Police are investigating the circumstances leading up to the collision.
