Four Men Charged Over Attempted Robbery Overnight – Robbery and Serious Crime Squad
Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives have this morning charged four males in relation to an alleged attempted armed robbery of a sports centre at Dundas overnight.
About 11.20pm yesterday, Police received reports of an alleged armed robbery at a sports centre on Elder Road at Dundas involving two men armed with knives and a sledge hammer.
Police, who were in the vicinity at the time, responded quickly and stopped a vehicle on Chiswick Road at Greenacre.
Four men inside the vehicle were arrested by police and taken to Bankstown Police Station. The males include a 16-year-old from Yennora, a 17-year-old from Auburn, a 17-year-old from Berala, and an 18-year-old from Lidcombe.
A search of the vehicle was conducted, where Police located and seized a knife and gloves.
Each of the four males have been charged with attempt robbery whilst armed and in company with an offensive weapon, participate in a criminal group, and possess offensive weapon.
They have all been refused bail. The youths will appear at Parramatta Children’s Court today, while the 18-year-old will appear at Bankstown Local Court today.
Strike Force Suakin comprises detectives from the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad and was established to investigate a number of alleged armed robberies on hotels and clubs following the robbery of a hotel at Canley Heights on 1 September this year.
