New County Court Judge Appointed

Attorney-General Robert Clark today announced the appointment of David Brookes SC to the County Court of Victoria.
Mr. Clark said Mr. Brookes’ wide experience and expertise as a barrister make him a valuable addition to the County Court.
“Mr. Brookes brings to the bench an extensive and practical knowledge of the common law. He has appeared in numerous trials related to medical negligence, workplace negligence, workers compensation and personal injury.”
“He has appeared before inquiries such as the HIH and Melbourne Ambulance Services Royal Commissions and has represented clients before other inquiries and professional tribunals such as the Medical Practitioners Board.”
“Mr Brookes has also contributed to legal education through giving lectures on forensic medicine at the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.”
Mr. Brookes was admitted to the Victorian Bar in 1978, after completing a Bachelor of Laws at the University of Melbourne.
“I congratulate Mr. Brookes on his appointment, and look forward to his contribution to the Court and the Victorian judicial system in the future.” Mr. Clark said.
