Man Charged With Alleged Car-Jacking And Robberies – Sydney’s South-West
A man will appear in court today charged with the alleged car-jacking and robbery of a man at Leumeah in Sydney’s South-West last month.
About 10:30 pm, Wednesday 9 December, a 59-year-old man was waiting to meet his wife at Leumeah Railway Station when three men approached him.
It is alleged one of the men asked for a lighter before producing a knife and demanding the man hand over his wallet, watch, cigarettes and car keys.
The man handed over his property before the three men stole his black Holden Viva and fled north along Airds Road.
Yesterday Police from Campbelltown and Macquarie Fields Local Area Commands arrested a 23-year-old Minto man at a shopping centre on Gilchriest Avenue in Campbelltown.
The man was taken to Campbelltown Police Station where he was charged with aggravated take/drive motor vehicle in company and armed robbery.
Subsequent investigations by Police also revealed the man was wanted by Liverpool Police for a number of alleged robberies and break and enter offences across the Sydney Metropolitan area.
Officers from Liverpool Local Area Command attached to Operation Nitsana which was formed to investigate a spate or robberies across Sydney, also charged the 23-year-old with robbery armed with offensive weapon, steal motor vehicle and aggravated break and enter.
He was also charged with an outstanding warrant for his arrest for the offence of robbery in company causing wounding and refused bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court today.
