Northern Territory Opposition Leader Terry Mills

The Country Liberals will return the local Police call centre to Katherine if elected to Government on Saturday.
Mr. Mills said Katherine residents have a clear choice between 15 years of Labor’s neglect and mismanagement and the Country Liberals strong 5-point plan for the future when they vote at the weekend.
“The Police call centre will cost $1.85 Million over four years and improve the capacity of local Police to deal with local crime.” Mr. Mills said.
“We will also invest in additional Police on the beat and more closed circuit television (CCTV) for the town.”
“As well as being a substantial correction facility, the $30 Million Katherine prison farm will provide short and long term economic benefits for the region.”
Mr. Mills said Katherine is an important service and transport hub linking the Northern Territory with neighbouring states to the south and west and this could be further boosted by the development of the Ord Stage 2.
“We will move immediately to identify land and commence planning for a transport hub in Katherine to fully integrate road and rail services.” Mr. Mills said.
“The Country Liberals recognise the strategic importance of Katherine to the cattle and transport industries and we will invest in this important regional development.”
Member for Katherine, Willem Westra van Holthe, said a future Country Liberals Government will work with Indigenous leaders to identify opportunities for economic development throughout the Katherine region.
“We will provide proper funding for outstations and bush roads and concentrate on increasing real job opportunities for local people.” Mr. Westra van Holthe said.
