People in Edenhope will have access to a bigger, better library and community space thanks to a funding boost from the Andrews Government.

Minister for Local Government Adem Somyurek today turned the first sod on the $1.8 Million redevelopment of the Edenhope Cultural Hub and Library.

“I commend West Wimmera Shire for this visionary project, which will see the community get more value from a site that has been a gathering place for well over 100 years.” Minister for Local Government Adem Somyurek said.

“Libraries are about so much more than books this redevelopment will deliver the great community space for people in Edenhope.”

Andrews Government is delivering $600,000 through the Living Libraries Infrastructure Fund to the project, which is being delivered by the West Wimmera Shire Council.

Project will see a complete redevelopment of the current Mechanics Institute Hall site in Edenhope into a new multi-user community hub and library.

New library facility will have:

  • Dedicated collection space,
  • Improved kitchen and public restroom facilities,
  • Large foyer,
  • Meeting room,
