Man Charged Following Alleged Assault And Robbery – Coffs Harbour

A man has been charged following an alleged robbery and assault last night in Coffs Harbour.

At about 10 pm (Tuesday 2 February) a 32-year-old Coffs Harbour man was confronted by a man as he walked along Prince Street.

The 32-year-old was punched to the ground and kicked after he refused to hand over money, before his bag was allegedly stolen.

The man was taken by ambulance to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

A short time later a table and ceramic pots outside a unit on Prince Street were smashed. A woman was inside at the time.

Police from the Coffs/Clarence Local Area Command attended the scene where they utilised OC spray and arrested a 22-year-old Emerald Beach man.

The man was taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station where he was charged with aggravated robbery, threaten injury with intent to commit indictable offence and malicious damage.

The man was refused bail and was due to appear in Coffs Harbour Local Court this afternoon.
