Man Charged With Obscene Behaviour – Clovelly

An elderly man has been charged with obscene exposure after an incident on Sydney’s eastern beaches yesterday.

About 12.45pm Police were called to the northern shore of Gordon’s Bay at Clovelly after reports of a naked man acting obscenely.

Police attended and found the man standing a short distance away from two sun baking females. It will be alleged the man, who was only wearing a hat, was involved in a sexual act whilst watching the two girls.

The man was arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station and charged with wilful and obscene exposure in a public place.

The 76-year-old Double Bay man was granted conditional bail to appear at Waverley Local Court on Wednesday 9 December.

Police from Eastern Beaches Local Area Command have been conducting an operation in the area specifically targeting these sorts of offences.


  • On Thursday 12 September, a 63-year-old Coogee man was charged over a similar incident at Gordon’s Bay and charged with offensive conduct. He will appear at Waverley Local Court on Wednesday 9 December.
  • The same day police also charged a 33-year-old Merewether man with possess prohibited drug and possess drug implement at Gordon’s Bay. He was refused bail before being ordered to appear in Waverley Local Court on Thursday 17 December.


Police are reminding members of the public that with summer nearly upon us, they should be extra vigilant at the beach in regards to suspicious behaviour and protection of valuables.
