Strike Force Nightfall is a joint investigation comprising officers from Griffith Local Area Command and the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad.
The Strike Force was established by police following reports of the alleged incident made to police on 6 December this year.
The reports relate to alleged demands for money made by a 67-year-old against a 50-year-old man in Griffith.
The demands also allegedly involved threats of violence and intimidation against the 50-year-old man and his family.
Over a period of time since last year, a substantial amount of money was paid by the 50-year-old man after receiving the threats.
