Police and Emergency Services Minister and Member for Rockhampton Bill Byrne today welcomed nine First Year Constables to their new Policing roles in Rockhampton and Gladstone.

Minister Byrne said six of the new First Year Constables would be based in Rockhampton, while three would be assigned to Gladstone.

“These recruits are among the brightest and best of the newest recruits to graduate from the Queensland Police Service Academy and I wish them all the very best as they embark on an exciting new career dedicated to keeping Queenslanders safe.”

“They have successfully completed 25 weeks of intensive training, which means they have the Policing skills needed for operational Policing as First Year Constables under supervision.”

“We all stand to benefit from the blend of tertiary and other qualifications and life experiences that these new recruits will bring to our region.” Minister Byrne said.

“I’m impressed with their enthusiasm for what lies ahead and I commend them for choosing a community safety, response and crime prevention.”

“Every one of these First Year Constables has sworn to maintain integrity, professionalism and accountability when serving and protecting the people of Central Queensland and wherever they serve across the state.” Minister Byrne said.

“Their combined efforts will help maintain safety for residents and visitors to our region.”

“It’s great to see such a strong representation of female First Year Constables join the ranks in Central Queensland and I wish them well in their chosen career path.”

“Policing is a challenging profession. It is not nine to five. It can be dangerous at times and for that we owe these new First Year Constables a great debt of gratitude for the important work they are about to undertake to keep Queenslanders safe.” Minister Byrne said.
