Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash – Summer Island
A man has died following a single vehicle crash on the State’s Mid North Coast yesterday.
About 7.15 pm a Toyota Camry was travelling North along Summer Island Road at Summer Island, near Smithtown, when it allegedly failed to negotiate a bend, left the roadway and struck a tree on the banks of the Macleay River.
As a result the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a 26-year-old South West Rocks man, died at the scene.
The man held a P1 driver’s licence.
The road remained closed in both directions for several hours while the wreckage was cleared.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
