Police Charge Man With Assault Of 2-Year-Old Child – Campsie

A man will appear in court today after Police charged him with assaulting a two-year-old child at Campsie yesterday.

About 1pm Campsie Police were called to a home unit in North Parade following a domestic dispute.

Police will allege that following a dispute between a 21-year-old man and a woman at the premises the man grabbed the child with one hand.

The boy was repeatedly struck before being pushed to the floor and thrust against a door.

As the man fled from the unit relatives contacted emergency services.

Paramedics treated the boy at the scene and conveyed him to St. George Hospital initially and then to the Randwick Children’s Hospital for treatment to a badly fractured femur.

Police located the man a short time later at a home in Onslow Street where he was arrested without incident.

The man was taken to Campsie Police Station and later charged with recklessly cause grievous bodily harm.

The man has been refused bail and will appear at Burwood Local Court later today.
