The 2012-2013 redivision of State electoral boundaries created the new Buninyong District. Buninyong comprises:

24,017 electors from Ballarat East District (Ballan, Bungaree, Buninyong, Canadian, Clarendon, Elaine, Eureka, Gordon, Meredith, Mount Clear, Mount Egerton, Mount Pleasant and Warrenheip. Parts of Bakery Hill, Ballarat East and Brown Hill)

6,873 electors from Ballarat West District (Bonshaw and Sebastopol. Part of Smythes Creek)

1,936 electors from Melton District (Balliang, Myrniong, Pentland Hills and Rowsley. Parts of Greendale, Maddingley and Parwan)

1,254 electors from Polwarth District (Bamganie, Corindhap, Dereel, Maude and Mount Mercer)

4,764 electors from Ripon District (Cape Clear, Haddon, Linton, Ross Creek, Scarsdale and Smythesdale. Part of Smythes Creek)
