Hodgman Government’s priority is jobs and with the fastest growing economy in Australia, the State’s building and construction sector continues to go from strength to strength.

Latest Building Approvals data released by the ABS today shows that in the year to November 2019 there were 3 % more building approvals than the year before, Minister for Building and Construction Elise Archer said.

“This was the highest growth rate of any State or Territory which all saw building approvals decline. What’s more, in the year to November 2019, there were on average 262 dwelling approvals per month, 92 more than the last year of the Labor-Green Government.”

In a strong sign that we are building a brighter economic future, the value of residential approvals over the same period also grew 8.3 % compared to the previous 12 months, with Tasmania experiencing the strongest growth in the nation, while all other jurisdictions, except South Australia, seeing the value of residential approvals decline.

“While we know there is still work to be done, these figures show we’re continuing to move in the right direction.” Minister Archer said.
