Greens Cheer The Demise Of Industry – While Labor Stands Idly By

Victor P Taffa

The collapse of Gunns this week has starkly demonstrated the Greens’ agenda to bring Tasmania to a grinding halt, Deputy Opposition Leader Jeremy Rockliff said.

“Far from doing anything about these economic vandals in her cabinet, the Premier continues to stand idly by, condoning it by her silence. This week in Parliament, she refused to utter a single word of condemnation of the Greens for their role in bringing down Gunns.” Mr. Rockliff said.

“Respected economist, Bruce Felmingham, has today outlined the very real possibility that Tasmania’s total state income could be reduced by as much as 20 % if the Greens continue to get their way and shut down major industries including mining and forestry.*”

“Mr. Felmingham states “In a couple of years, the Greens will have made a significant contribution to the demise of two industries…which account for one fifth of the state’s total income.”

“Enough is enough, the minority Green-Labor Government experiment has failed. If the Premier won’t stand up to the Greens, she should call an election so that Tasmanians can have their say about the economic future of our state.” Mr. Rockliff said.
